I believe education is a life-long journey rather than a destination. Growing up as the son of professors, I always knew that education is what you make it. As you will see from the list below, I hold an extensive background in professional education and non-professional (MOOC style) coursework.

No. After completing my coursework, I worked as a counselor in a low-income school district for two years. While I loved working with the students and their guardians, I quickly realized that I am better suited for and passionate about management. My focus on mental health and wellness has allowed me to impact communities and businesses through nonprofit leadership, staff development, and consulting. In addition, I have started two counseling organizations with my background to serve low-income and vulnerable populations.
Yes, many times, I even visited Duke, Tuck, and Northwestern to get a better sense of the process. Yet I couldn't get past the cost. The ROI (Return on Investment) for me would be low as I am passionate about social innovation and nonprofits, both sectors with a history of lower pay. So I'm on a mission to create my own MBA using free (or cheap) online courses called MOOC's (Massive Open Online Courses). Check out Coursera, EdX, and Udacity.
If money were no object, I would travel the world learning from the most innovative and ground-breaking social ventures and bring innovative best practices back to the small business and social ventures that dot America's landscape. Small ventures exist in a resource desert, as most consultants, resources, and training are tailored to larger ($5M+) organizations with tons of staff. However, 88% of nonprofits and social ventures operate under $500,000 per year! We need to provide cost-effective help where it's needed most.
